China accounted for almost half of 5G smartphone deliveries in 2019
China accounted for about 46% of the total sales of fifth-generation mobile 5G smartphones in 2019. This is evidenced by the report of Counterpoint Research. According to the report, the previous year in Kita was delivered 8% fewer smartphones than in 2018. The market leader was the Chinese company Huawei, which (including the sub-brand Honor) accounted for more than a third of all deliveries. Oppo (18% of the total), Vivo (18%) and Xiaomi (10%) also remained in the top five suppliers. At the same time, the total share of deliveries of smartphones of other manufacturers decreased to 19% compared to 27% in 2018. Analysts predict that due to the coronavirus outbreak in the first quarter of 2020, the smartphone market in China will fall by 20%. The rate of decline will decrease in the second quarter of the year, and in the third market will start to grow. Experts believe that in both China and the world, in 2020 the total delivery of smartphones will remain at the level of 2019. We expected the market to 5G a catalyst for the growth of the world smartphone market in 2020, but now we think that the market will remain in the same state, the report notes. As previously reported by the news agency, in January experts Strategy Analytics said that in 2019 Huawei delivered about 7 million smartphones with the support of 5G, becoming the leader in this indicator. The second place was taken by the South Korean company Samsung, which supplied 6.7 million 5G devices.
