At the same time, Lavrov stressed, Washington, in fact, ignored the generally recognized international legal framework of the Middle East settlement, including resolutions of the Security Council and the UN General Assembly, as well as the Arab Peace Initiative. American developments involve solving all key problems of the final status of Palestinian territories borders, settlements, East Jerusalem, refugees through unilateral concessions in favor of Israel, the diplomat added. Lavrov is confident that such an approach will hardly contribute to the correction of the situation. According to him, this is also evidenced by the fact that the so-called deal of the century is categorically rejected by the Palestinians. Also on the topic: The Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs assessed Trump's proposed deal of the century. To move forward on this issue, according to Lavrov, will allow genuine efforts of the Palestinians and Israelis themselves, as well as the most balanced and impartial international support of the process. According to the news agency, in late January 2020, US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu presented a draft peaceful Palestinian-Israeli settlement. Thus, the deal of the century proposes a change in the borders of Israel and Palestine, as well as a change in the capital of the Palestinian state. The head of the White House proposed to recognize Israel's sovereignty over most of the Jordan Valley, to leave Jerusalem as Israel's indivisible capital. Turkish President Rekeep Taip Erdoğan described the American leader's proposed deal of the century as an occupation project, in no way aimed at achieving peace in the Middle East.
