In Italy approved Israeli drug from coronavirus
Italian authorities approved a drug developed in Israel for the treatment of COVID-19, reports The Times of Israel with reference to the statement of the company RedHill BioPharma (the company is based in Tel Aviv and North Carolina). It is stressed that the chemical compound Opaganib in question is now undergoing testing as a treatment for lung inflammation and pneumonia. Doctors expect that the agent will be effective for patients with COVID-19 with various background diseases. The company also said in a statement that the approved Opaganib expanded access program allows doctors at Italy's three largest hospitals to treat patients at high risk of developing pneumonia and patients with pneumonia. For example, the Italian National Institute of Infectious Diseases and the Ethics Committee of Central Italy approved the use of the new drug in 160 patients in three major hospitals.
