Professor in Sweden spoke about the suffering of patients with COVID-19

Patients with COVID-19 who were in an emergency condition and connected to an artificial lung ventilation apparatus (IVL) often suffer from hallucinations and nightmares. Such an observation was made public by Asa Engström, a professor at the Luleo University of Technology, located in northeastern Sweden. This was reported on May 5 by the Swedish edition SVT Nyheter. Asa Engström conducted a study of what it was like to be seriously ill and be connected to an IVL machine. The conditions of patients from such respiratory treatment vary. Differences are observed even in how much the patient retains a sense of time, she said. During and after there may be feelings of some unreality, and you may also experience hallucinations, nightmares and similar experiences. For patients it is quite difficult to distinguish whether this is all a reality or not, Professor Engström said.
