An earthquake in Mexico killed one person
One person died in an earthquake in southern Mexico. This was announced on June 23 by the governor of the Mexican state of Oaxaca, Alejandro Murat, during a live broadcast on the website of the Milenio newspaper. According to the governor, according to preliminary data, a building collapsed in the city of Crucesita, in which one person died, another was injured. In addition, as a result of tremors, a number of buildings and infrastructure were damaged. State authorities tentatively estimated the damage from the earthquake as insignificant. An earthquake of magnitude, according to various estimates, from 7.1 to 7.7 occurred in southern Mexico. The epicenter of tremors was located 23 km from the city of Crucesite. The tremors were felt by residents of five regions, including in the capital of the country, the city of Mexico City. Earlier, the news agency reported that the Mexican authorities denied information about the threat of a tsunami as a result of an earthquake that occurred in southern Mexico.
