WHO and UNICEF explained the age at which children should wear protective masks

The recommendation to wear protective masks to children from the age of 12 was given by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the UN Children's Fund (UNICEF). This is stated in a joint newsletter published on August 22 by the WHO press service. Follow the development of events in the broadcast: World against coronavirus: stabilization or the second wave? - all the news. The document states that in connection with the pandemic COVID-19 children aged 12 years and older are recommended to wear a protective mask on the same conditions as adults. In particular, this is necessary in cases where it is impossible to observe a distance of one meter from other people. Children between the ages of six and 11 are also recommended to wear a mask, but WHO and UNICEF experts believe that a number of circumstances need to be taken into account. Such circumstances include, for example, the ability of a child to wear a mask as intended, as well as the ability of adults to monitor the correct wearing of a mask by children. For children under six years of age, the requirement to wear masks is not mandatory. In addition, for children of any age, it is not necessary to wear a mask during competitions or sports and physical exercises. At the same time, during such events, special attention must be paid to the observance of sanitary standards. Earlier, the news agency reported on the timing of the completion of the pandemic COVID-19, according to WHO head Tedros Adhanom Gebreyesus.
