Plan for reconstruction of regional roads of Latvia for 300 million euros developed
The Ministry of Environment and Regional Development (VARAM) of Latvia announced a plan developed jointly with the state-owned enterprise Latvian Valsts ce It is planned to bring into order 865 km of roads in 96 existing self-governments today. In Riga and the district we are talking about reconstruction of 230 km, worth 54.613 million euros, in Zemgal about 82 km for 50.88 million euros, in Kurzem 161 km for 53.858 million, in Latgal 257 km worth 77.696 million euros, Vidzeme 135 km will be repaired for 62.02 million euros. VARAM will bring to the next meeting of the Cabinet the issue of allocation of 75 million euros for the construction of local roads in order to reduce the negative impact of the Covid-19 on the economy of the regions. From 13 March to 12 May, an Emergency Regime was introduced in the LR by a Government decision due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Classes in schools, sports sections have been abolished. Mass events are prohibited, which gather more than 50 people. The schedule of public transport and the rules of trade in stores have been changed. The borders of Latvia and other EU countries for passenger transport are closed. These measures have had a negative impact on the economic situation in the country.
