Hungarian ambassador to be summoned to the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry

The Secretary of State of the Office of the Prime Minister of Hungary, Janos Potapa, was not allowed to enter Ukraine in connection with measures to counter the spread of the pandemic COVID-19 and there are no political reasons for this, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine said on September 4. Recall, on September 3, at the opening of Uzhgorod school No. 10, Janos Potap was to be present, who was not allowed into the country. Instead, the consul of Hungary in Ukraine Laszlo Kuti took part in the opening ceremony of the school. During a speech at the opening of the school, the Hungarian consul said that guests from Hungary were not allowed into Ukraine and he is now speaking instead. We were waiting for our guests from Hungary for this event, but, unfortunately, a few hundred kilometers from here they decided that the largest threat to the epidemiological situation in Ukraine was the entry of the Hungarian government delegation, the Ukrainian publication Vesti quotes the consul of Hungary. The press service of the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine, reacting to the statement of the consul of Hungary, noted that they were surprised to take Laszlo Kuti's statement about the ban on entry into Ukraine to Yanos Potape, calling the statement of the Hungarian diplomat unacceptable. "In this context, László Kuti, consul of the Consulate General of Hungary in Užhorod, is not acceptable at the September 3 celebrations on the occasion of the opening of the renovated secondary school No. 10 named after Gabor Dojko in Užhorod, the statement said. The rhetoric of the diplomat, according to the Ukrainian side, indicates disrespect for the laws of the country of residence and deliberately misleads the public, not contributing to the normalization of Ukrainian-Hungarian relations. The Foreign Ministry of Ukraine also expects relevant conclusions from the Hungarian side. In connection with the statement in the Foreign Ministry, the Ambassador of Hungary to Ukraine will be invited, summed up in the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
